In about two weeks time I'll have finished running the Reading Half Marathon and will probably be lying down somewhere crippled with sore feet. But regardless of what happens afterwords I'm sure it will be worth it.
I've been training for a little over 3 months, running 3 or 4 times a week to try and get my stamina up as well as getting used to the concepts of "outside" and "exercise". Something not well known to those who spend a lot of times with computers.
This is my first half marathon that I've done and I've set the ambitious target of completing it in 1 hour and 45 minutes, or an average pace of 12 kph (7.4mph). With the help of the Garmin Forerunner 305 that Helgi got me, I'm pretty confident about my time.
Now to the important part, as extra encouragement to make sure I didn't drop out I agreed to run on the behalf of a charity. The charity is the Berkshire Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre, they provide therapy and support for those with Multiple Sclerosis in my local area.
All sponsorship is going through Just Giving as they can claim Gift Aid for those within the UK and the charity gets a bit of extra money.
